The Royal Glasshouses - Laeken, Brussels

12th April - 5th May 2024 - TBC

We are still awaiting the confirmed dates for our Royal Glasshouses in Brussels tour for 2024 but we believe the dates we have should be confirmed soon. As soon as we have them confirmed  we will update our page.

The Royal Glasshouses of Laeken in Brussels are the original greenhouses built for the use of the Palace next door. The Belgian royal family still live at the Laeken Palace and as such the greenhouses are only open for a short time each year. Don’t miss the chance to wander through what seems like a huge glass city with a huge range of species of plants meticulously looked after.

Every spring, the Royal Greenhouses of Laeken are open to the public for 3 weeks. It is an excellent opportunity to see the wonderful architecture of Alphonse Balat, the mentor of Victor Horta, and the many plants in the greenhouses.

The Royal Glasshouses were built by King Leopold II to accommodate his collection of plants from the Congo. The series of eleven massive greenhouses contain a selection of rare plants kept in peak condition by a team of 20 gardeners. These huge greenhouses, next to the Palace of Laeke, are stunning, there are so many in the grounds of the Palace that it’s like a huge glass city and the plants inside are meticulously looked after.

Our tours take in this fantastic visit and also combine it with other Floral and Horticultural events in the locality.
